About
Our focus
Olmec Search & Selection aims to work closely with market leading companies to identify and attract high calibre talent in the Property, Real Estate, Management or Professional Services arenas. We have expertise in sourcing executives at all levels in these sectors promptly and cost effectively.
Our approach
Olmec employs an executive search approach to find and attract candidates. Executive search is a discreet and effective method of identifying talented individuals who are not necessarily seeking a change of employment. This approach allows us to capitalise on our vast network of contacts and our research database, while retaining utmost confidentiality. The proactive nature of executive search is particularly relevant to the ever-tightening property and real estate market, where experience, skill mix and cultural fit are of paramount importance.
Olmec takes a consultative approach to finding recruitment solutions for our clients. Based on the client company’s objectives, we define the scope and content of the role to be recruited and develop a comprehensive search strategy. We then conduct extensive research into potential sources of talent and individual candidates by utilising a number of on-line resources, tapping into our High Potential Tracking database and drawing upon our extensive network of contacts.
At this point, Olmec will share intelligence and market knowledge gathered during the research phase with our client. Candidates are then interviewed, qualified and their backgrounds discussed with the client. The client interview process is then handled, as candidates meet the relevant levels of management. After the preferred candidate has been identified, Olmec remains involved in the assignment to ensure successful negotiation of the offer of employment, and a smooth transition to the client’s company.
Olmec works in partnership with clients, aiming to develop an intimate understanding of the business, its culture and the environment in which it operates. By these methods we know we can add the greatest amount of value to our clients’ business and remain as an invaluable supplier.
What makes us different?
- Olmec Search & Selection delivers Executive Search within the tight timescales usually associated with lower level selection assignments and at a similar fee level. Our cost effectiveness is readily apparent.
- Olmec works with a limited number of clients per sector; hence no conflict of interest arises in approaching individuals from competitor organizations.
- Our fees are structured to be dependent on success. Therefore our aims are the same as our clients: the right candidate at the right time and at the right cost.
- Aiming to provide long-term contributors to our clients’ businesses, we offer a six-month guarantee. This is longer than the industry average and can be extended by negotiation for special circumstances.
- We maintain unusually close contact with clients throughout the duration of an assignment. This includes interaction during the research phase and the provision of weekly updates and summaries via email when requested.
- We employ a High Potential Tracking system for outstanding candidates, enabling clients to keep abreast of opportunities.
- Assignments are handled by the Principal of the business. There is no delegation of client assignments to junior consultants or trainees.
Olmec Search & Selection is delighted to be judged by the company we keep and the talent we have sourced. We are proud of our achievements in finding some of the Region’s best heads for the best organisations. We are happy to supply extensive references to potential clients.
Who on Earth were the Olmecs?
Between 1200 and 300 BC the Olmec civilisation flourished along the Gulf Coast of southern Mexico. This was the first true civilisation of the New World, a complex society with co-existing political territories, long distance trade in valuables and America’s first known symbol system and defined style of art.
Over three thousand years ago the Olmecs had developed a calendar an alphabet and a system of arithmetic. They used a lodestone magnetic compass centuries before the Chinese, and built grand cities with complex drainage systems and the largest pyramids then erected in the New World. They were also the first and finest sculptors on the continent, carving the hardest of stones with unequaled skill and without the use of metal tools.
Among the many artworks discovered in modern times, the most mysterious and extraordinary objects left by the Olmecs are a number of colossal heads made of basalt. These monumental portraits of their rulers stand almost three metres high and weigh up to fifteen tonnes. The volcanic boulders from which they are carved had to be transported ninety kilometres from the mountains. Such enormous tasks called for a well-run social machine a committed workforce and a strong guiding hand from the seat of power.
In an age when the rest of Middle America still lived in small independent communities of farmers and fishermen, the Olmecs achieved an unparalleled degree of social organisation.
They are remembered for the beauty and technical brilliance of their works of art the grandeur and mystery of their monuments, and the importance their iconography attached to the heads of their leaders.
Similarly, Olmec Search & Selection attaches great importance to the most talented heads in the Property and Real Estate sectors. We go to great lengths to locate them for our clients.
